Well, I missed the detail that it was a USB connected CD drive. This
takes it outside my experience as I had thought it was a CD drive in a
std IDE interface. Older CD/DVD drives were IDE only.

Given the situation with eCS 2.0, the simplest solution I can suggest
is a separate CD or DVD drive with an IDE default PATA interface.

I stopped running my eCS 2.0 RC5 a few months ago as my RC6 would not
work, and my subscription ran out. I'll be setting RC5 up in virtual to
make all the data and connections available, but I am not optimistic
about eCS 2.0 ever being competitive in the rapidly moving OS
environment. Not anybody's fault, just too few resources.
I don't understand your reply - to J. Vaughn or Ira Saxe.
(Were you suggesting that the SATA drive (HDD, ODD) be replaced with a PATA one?)
Sincerely,

Older versions of CD/DVD reported as IDE. You should be
able to find a used one.

Subject: [Discussion] Loading eCS on a Dell XPS 210
I've identified my problem.My Dell's BIOS supports
ACHI while eCS expects IDE protocol for my CD drive which is
connected via USB. Any ideas on. how to circumvent this
problem will be appreciated.
