[Discussion] scam/phishing reporting

For some time, I've been using reportphishing at antiphishing.org,
& spam at uce.gov.
I have never gotten ANY indication that either one does anything
with the email.
What I do (depending on how p.o.'d I am at the spam)..
1 - FORWARD the email to create what I will report (creates a new email)
2 - COPY all header info from the original, to the top of the new FWD
email.
3 - Scroll down the header and pick up every URL's site name.
If it's a well known name (Hotmail.com Yahoo.com , att.net, ....)
I enter
'abuse at thatname' in the 'SEND TO:' section.. it may be several.
They
may be in Russia (.ru), Germany (.de) etc, I don't care - I add
'em all.
ALSO, if an odd name I may use WHOIS to find the ID's of the tech
support or admin or owner, and I add them too.
4 When done with #3 (If I do any), I'll add the two I showed above.
(it's merely 'sp' on my emailer which expands it. So though the
above
LOOKS like a lot of work, there's minimally 5-7 key clicks if I
don't
add any 'abuse at' recipients. (I'd love macro ability and would
switch
to that email pgm!)
If I was more sure all this was worth doing, I'd do more than the very few
I do in a day, I'd bombard every damn spam I get,
I get a couple 'no such ..' returns, but It helps when I get those "we
apologize,
and are looking into ..." emails back!..

At one time I think there was an address for the FTC but I think it has
been
closed down. The only address I know of is the spam at uce.gov which is
where I
send all my spam (they use it mostly for keeping statistics).
