Don,
As far as I can judge, your problems are FAR worse than that. (Before I move on, LVM _will_ (ought to) make a MESS of your drive. So, DON'T try it!)
The hardware is NOT IBM PC-PC compatible! So, it should NOT "go" at all!
IF you try / use a "Virtual" means, believe it or not, eCS _should_ be workable (somehow, I think). Directly running on the _Mac_ design Hw, however, is a no-go.
("Open Firmware" (in PPC Macs) had already "left" the PC BIOS behind. Now there is an ~EFM~ (on 'Intel Macs') and eCS doesn't know ANYTHING about how to communicate with it.)
Sincerely though, possibly incorrectly,
Thomas Clayton
P.S.: AFAIK, Apple Computer, Inc. didn't go "far enough" to 'correct' 'design flaws' in the 'PC' "architecture". Even if they had, it wouldn't have mattered since they wouldn't - couldn't - have corrected the fundamental problem: the bad design withIN the Intel (and AMD) micro-Processors. I and, I _think_, 'our' Bill N. agree on this.
T.C.
