Are you sure the camera will only work with XP? Most camera's have an 
option of just appearing as a USB drive and/or PTP. Also removing the 
memory card and plugging that into a card reader or your computer if it 
has a slot for the card.
My 3 year old HP camera works fine in OS/2 using Rich Walsh's excellent 
Cameraderie program in PTP mode even with my ancient USB drivers. It 
also works fine on my son's Win2k PRO by removing the SD memory card and 
plugging it into the memory reader slot on his computer.
Odds are your camera is the same and probably the XP only software is 
more for editing, printing etc.
I'd suggest using Google to search for your exact camera model and 
Linux. If Linux can read it without anything special 2K and OS/2 (newer 
USB drivers perhaps) should also be able to read it too.
