I'm asking this question to the POSSI group because I know I'll get a sound recommendation.
I have a R30 Thinkpad that has Windows 2000 Pro installed for the specialized work I do that requires Windows. In addition
to Excel & VB6, I have programs for uploading MP3's to my player. The unit has a small HD (12 MB).
My son gave me a very nice Logitech camera to use when he and the family (i.e., the grandkids!) move to Bangkok in a few
weeks for two years. The camera only works with Windows XP. I have a copy of XP Home.
Here are my questions:
1. I am reluctant to create another partition on the internal HD just for XP. I have no need for XP other than for the camera.
2. Is there a way to install XP on a USB external HD that won't screw up my 2000 on the internal drive?
3. Is the only safe alternative to buy a second Thinkpad internal drive and install XP on it?
(I know I could completely upgrade my Windows 2000 Pro to the XP Home, but I hate having to reinstall all of my programs
and redo my settings.)
I use my T20 with eCS as much as possible, but the simple fact is, I can't do some really important things with it - like see the
grandkids.
