I don't know about W2K but Ploarbar works very well on XP (you must install Sun
JAVA because MS JAVA will not work).

Not entirely true. Although most new features are not being developed fixes
are still being done. I have just recently gotten a fix into Polarbar for a
problem sending email to a Sendmail server (Polarbar thought the email was not
sent, but Sendmail did send it, and Polarbar continually resent the email).

I don't know anything about Columba.

Polarbar v1.26 build 2264 and older works using JAVA 1.3.1.
Polarbar v1.26 newer than build 2264 will work with JAVA v1.4.2. That JAVA has
some painting problems but does work.
eCS 2.0 from what I have heard will probably ship with JAVA 1.4.2 (I have no
inside knowledge so don't rely on this).
