I agree with Carl re: touchpad.
I have a T61. I am still pecking at it to get it working with eCS 2rc7 (silver). I agree with the
comments made in the eCS technical forum regarding the T61.
I don't know if you can get the T61 anymore as a new computer, I think Lenovo has moved beyond that
model.
If you want to stick with eCS then you should look at the T43 (??) series that others have
recommended in posts on other lists.
I believe you mentioned using it for business. I bought the T61 for a similiar reason and
maintained the Windows partition for that reason. The business reason no longer exists but at the
time Open Office was not an adequate substitution. To use it for business I had to use Windows
Office product, nothing else would do the job. So consider how you are using it for business, will
Open Office be sufficient for your needs?
Another consideration is will you be traveling with it? If so the battery life of the T61 under
eCS is perhaps 1/2 of what it is under XP. This seems to be because of throttling down of the
CPU's and there are tools for this under eCS but in my experience they are not too easy to work
with. I don't know anything about the earlier versions of the Thinkpad but from what I read the
T43 (??) might be a better bet if you can live with the older hardware.
