It used core memory, as did some Univacs but not the original Univac 1 which used mercury delay lines for 
memory.

There was no OS.  You assembled a program using either SPS or, if you were lucky and had a big enough 
machine, autocoder.

Can't speak for Bob, but I've made heavy use of the machine and done a fair amount of programming (in 
autocoder).  Never repaired one.
