I, too, began using Mesa2 as soon as it became available and used it
daily until I (mostly) switched to a Macintosh.
As a native OS/2 app, Mesa2 easily outperformed any other spreadsheet
available, was compact (it fit on a 3 1/2 inch floppy), had a good
printed manual, and was well supported. Another reason was the its
principal developer was J. Daniel (Dan) Kulp, who was a graduate
student at Northeastern University when I first switched over from
DOS to OS/2 in 1993. Dan helped me get OS/2 up and running on the
Northeastern network so that I could have free email and internet
access.
If Mesa2 were available for the Mac, I'd probably still be using it now.
