I think the eCS users, like myself, are interested in other OS/2 and eCS
users' experience with other systems, be they Mac, Linux or XYZ. I think
we all benefit from looking thru other eyes and other solutions as we
travel thru the rather challenging present.

I am encouraged by recent reports that eCS will have another beta
release soon, and not too long from a final 2.0. Also the OpenOffice 3.1
beta download is available for those paid subscribers. I've downloaded
it, but want to get a good beta6a install first.

eCS still works reliably for me, and OO 3.1 and Thunderbird and FF will
cover all of the needed bases for me. I am not knowledgeable on what DBs
work well under eCS, but I'll be happy to run PG under Linux and connect
to it, or ZFS under Solaris, and connect to it. The key is to understand
the best-in-breed and make use of them.

Virtual systems under one roof are another option, but I'm not quite
ready to take that on yet. But if someone else is working on/running
some, let's hear what your experiences are.

What I want is best of breed, and if I need X systems (or virtuals) to
run them, I'll do it.
