You have been sharing a very common assumption.  On the other hand, for 
years I inadvertently destroyed LVM without ever really knowing what it 
was.  I did two things.  One, I used DANIDASD.  Two, starting with eCS 
1.2 I have never been able to get it to install on a "used" HDD on any 
desktop - two laptops I have been able to install on.  I could never get 
past "corrupt partition table".  So I would take an extra HDD, clean it 
with DFSee, and install with my choice of drive letter, and then copy 
the partition to the working HDD.  Between DANIDASD and the copy process 
there was nothing left of LVM.  Also, DFSee has an LVM delete function.

LVM or not, your choice.
