I don't have LVM on any desktop; W4 or eCS.  To get JFS I had DFSee 
create a bootable JFS partition - no, I had/have no intention of booting 
it.  That got me a partition with a drive letter.  Once I had a drive 
letter I had something format could see, and "format X: /FS:JFS" got me 
a usable partition.  I have several storage partitions using JFS.
