Legitimate question.
How does defunct company who's name is no longer registered,
claim ownership of a copyright? Are rights assigned at dissolution?
(like heirs after a person's death)
Suppose you didn't want to get permission. Can one look up a
company name anywhere after 20+ years being gone?

Despite OS/2 Professional Magazine being out of business their
copyrights are still valid. Under the law you need explicit written
permission to distribute copies of the originals (you can sell the
actual magazines).
