Dear POSSI:
I do NOT know what software WAS used to compose OS/2 Professional by ?Ziff-Davis Publishing? but presumed it was one of the major app.s of the day. Framemaker and Pagemaker came to mind. (The other major DTP app. WAS (/ is?) Quark Express (Macintosh ONLY, at the time (still?).)
I was referring to the fact that
Framemaker, Inc (makers of Framemaker)
and
Aldus Corp. (makers of Pagemaker)
had ANNOUNCED their intention(?) to release a NATIVE OS/2 version of their "flagship" products. I do NOT remember the industry / market conditions BUT, shortly there after, BOTH were "acquired" by Adobe Corp. and NO versions for OS/2 were ever released.
As an aside, let me mention that it has ALWAYS struck me as MONOPOLISTIC that Adobe was ALLOWED to acquire BOTH these products within a short period of time! They were (/ ARE?) the major DTP app.s and should have remained competitors.
Sincerely,
Thomas Clayton
