Not even if you assign a drive letter?  I think way back when I used to do that successfully but it 
didn't backup the permissions.  You need the server version to do that.  Unfortunately, that 
version has a different set of problems.

Linux has recognized hpfs for quite some time, I used to manually enter info into the fstab file.  
I don't use it often so if distro's now automatically recognize hpfs that is a nice improvement.
