I have to intentionally limit each archive to ~700MB so I
can fit it on a CDR. I have it automated so that when it
completes I have a set of files ready to drop into CDRecord.
I only do full backups once in a great while, most of the
time it's an incremental backup and that easily fits on a
CDR.

I do remember that the version I have won't work over a
network, which sucks. At some point Linux started recognizing
HPFS partitions so soon I'll be backing up my OS/2 stuff up
over my home network that way.
