3.2  I looked at the feature set for 4 and 5 and didn't see anything

Given what I've learned of Samba over the past few weeks, writing
a samba client is like coming up with a substitute DLL for windoze.
Lot's of 'features' to discover and deal with.

My newest windoze is 2K, and it works with that OK.  No telling
what something newer would do with the "old" Samba server.
