It was late when I wrote the above:
Most of my experience has been under w2k, my XP installation is 
relatively new. Like Julian, I use fat32 partitions for data and stuff 
that I want common across win and os2. I have never tried large copies 
and writes to-from hpfs partitions while in windows. I have pinball just 
as a just in case convenience.
