Mine isn't an issue of compatibility, it's 100% nonfunctional
under eCS. It just doesn't see it. It may be my hardware
but I suspect it's something I'm doing wrong. I won't spend
any more time trying to get it to work, I can just boot linux
and it's all there, including access to my HPFS partitions.

Me too, and with an SD adapter as you've described.

I gave up on eCS a long time ago. They lost me when they
started to charge for stuff that should be included in the
base OS, or comes for free with/for other OS's. Not to mention
there hasn't been a new app in a decade or more. All you get
is ported linux apps and java stuff. I don't need eCS to run
those. Probably the only reason I haven't wiped eCS from my
computers are the native apps I do have. I have quite a few
but even those are getting long in the tooth and are easily
supplanted with more current stuff. So it's come down to
having access to the data I created with those apps, which
isn't so easily ported.

They're free, and frequent. I had a good run with OS/2, about
15 years. Had to move on when the world moved on. I still have
and use it but have no delusions about what it is or where it's
going. My focus is no longer on the underpinnings. Anymore a
computer is just a data appliance to me. Linux, CPM, windoze,
DOS, OS/2, I don't care. If it does what I need I'm fine with
anything. They're just tools in a toolbox.
