To bad, IIRC these hold the EAs for the root directory. It is also
possible now adays that JFS partitions keep the EAs in the root the
same as other directories. You could always try using something like
eabrowse (hobbes) to look and perhaps delete them.
It could also be file handles in the ini files so a good ini file
cleaning might be in order

ps the EAs shouldn't have anything in them besides things like folder
position so deleting them is pretty harmless, at least in the root and
most other places besides the desktop
