Hi Joyce,

Click on the Apple in the upper left corner.  Then System Preferences  
-> Dock (in the top row of icons) -> uncheck the box marked  
"Magnification"

You can also leave the box checked and adjust the slider to change  
the degree of magnification.  Setting it the the minimum setting also  
stops the dancing around that you don't like.
