[Discussion] USB to parallel cable observation

Well, I did get my Christmas letters to go in the cards printed on that
one day. But when I tried to print another letter the next day for a card
I forgot, the printer wouldn't. In the Printer Settings notebook Ports
page, I right-clicked the USB port and found that my printer is regarded
as "offline." I haven't been able to get it back online despite various
combinations of on/offing the printer, attach/detaching the cable and
rebooting with/without cable/printer attached and on/off. Suggestions? I
guess I could give up and buy a PCI parallel port card.
