I've gotten "practiced" at putting the paper back into my LJ 4MP to do the "reverse" side. The only bothersome thing is: after a while I /hear/ it. It - unlike my earlier LJ 4L - does/n't/ have any energy saving ("quiet") mode. The fan is ALWAYS on. The 4L, BTW, get "lost" in the moving two years ago.

Correct on the PS. I just use the HP 4000 driver as it came. I have
used both PCL6 and PS, but the PS just *seems* [no facts to back this
up] to create fewer problems. I use PS 99% of the time. I guess the
backup facts are hard to come by simply because there have been so few
issues with it. I think, in general, it deals with printing PDFs
better. A lot of my printing is PDFs.
The most common problem has been when the printer appears to eCS on my
TPad [via WiFi] to be offline when the status from the Web access
clearly says it's OK. Power off/on and it picks up without having to
reprint the job that was complaining about, "Offline/out of paper/..."
I have had one issue printing duplex from WinOS2-based WordPerfect.
I've only installed the Windoze PCL driver. [No reason I can think of
other than I already had the LJ4000 driver installed for a real 4000.]
When printing from WP directly to the printer, it will duplex
book-style OK, but I cannot get it to do landscape 'flip' duplexing.
Print the same document to a PDF [using redirected Lexmark PS C710 PS3
driver], print the PDF from the eCS Acrobat 5 Reader and it 'flips'
just fine. I'm guessing it is the HP 4000 driver not the printer.
I very much concur with the comment from J. Race about getting the high
capacity toner cartridge.
As to quiet: It's about as quiet when printing as any laser printer
I've seen. Most of the sound is when it is 'flipping' the paper to
print the reverse side. When not printing, it is completely silent.
If there is a fan operating while idle, I cannot detect it from the
outside. Now, it is possible that there may be a fan operating after a
lot of printing during a cool-down cycle. But, I've not checked it
that carefully.
