This condition seems to affect my connecting with an eCS sstem. Any ideas on how to get rid of dialiing would be helpful. Reards, Ira Saxe

Easy... get yourself a hardware router, and set it not to "dial on
demand" or auto-redial the DSL if it drops. All your computers use DHCP
to get an IP address assigned, and you never have to worry about XP
screwing up - in fact, the PC won't have to be on for all the others to
get on the internet.

You DO have to "dial in" with a username and password to establish a
connection on a DSL, if you're using PPPoE. I can't speak for other
protocols like "Big Pond" and such that I see in the router setups - I'm
in Canada, and have only used "static", "dynamic", and "PPPoE". (Since
I have no idea where on the planet you are).

If the connection drops, you have to sign in again, and will likely get
a different IP address each time.

You don't exactly detail how you have it all hooked up at present, so I
may be talking through my hat. :)

Hope this helps!
