[Discussion] Changed window behavior

I can't remember how to do this and I don't know where to look in the
system documentation.
Whenever I open an eCS or a DOS window, it opens in the standard size, 25
rows by 80 columns. Until today, if I then issued a MODE command to change
the number of rows amd/or columns, the window changed size to accommodate
the numbers I entered.
All of a sudden today, however, when the MODE command is entered, the
window size stays the same and scroll bars are added to accommodate the
added rows and/or columns. Obviously, I've managed to change some setting
somewhere. Can some kind soul please remind me how to change it back ?
Also, it used to be that all such windows opened in the same place on the
screen. That behavior has also changed: the first window opens in some
apparently random place and succeeding windows open in a cascade pattern I
know there is a way to control this behavior, but I can't remember what it
is. Can someone help ?
I assume all this is documented somewhere in the manuals in the Help Center
folder delivered with the system, but I haven't been able to find anything.
Does anyone know where ?
Many thanks
Stratton McAllister
