Thanks for the input so far on deleted files.  I have not written
anything to that partition since the "event" so if anything is
overwritten, it was done by the system.  It's a data-only partition
that's only accessed for photos, so it doesn't normally see any
activity unless I'm specifically mucking around in there.

I downloaded DFSee and will give that a whirl.
