Mark,
Listing of everything, to be redone. Kirk had had one which /may/ or
/may not/ be within, somewhere here. Based upon a superficial perusal:
Most of the books are copies of ones that I sent to Jerry Garren in CA
?last year? though I did see exceptions (1-3) to this (some I hadn't
ever seen /had).
L-SS is THE "misssing one" ('96-'97) I had been asking about here
(POSSI) and you all seemed to indicate was just my imagination getting
ahead of me. (BTW, I find this the most surprising find in therese.)
OS/2 Pro.; OS/2 Mag.; eXt. Attr.; Inside OS/2 (monthly 10-page
pamphlets)
I /KNOW/ there is ONE OS/2 Mag. /not/ in my set. Also, I have dupl.s -
before getting Kirk's set - so that, with his, there /may/ be another
/full/ set available. I /think/ he has 'EA's that are before mine and
/some/ that overlap. I 'own' only one to three Inside OS/2, till now.
I'll peruse them and, probably, part with all of them together. I had
some 'Pro.' mag.s will collate new with what I have and see, from
there. They (Pro) had a whole different "ZD" 'take' on things. ('We're
ZD Press (PC Mag, PC Computing(?), PC Shopper, ?Windows Mag.?), so you
all better bow down before us - or else.')
Software? Well, it's the big uns' that I recall: Borland C++ 2 (I'd
asked about this ONE), some swallow? covered folders that say 'eCS' on
them with RO-CODs with-in, and the LSS '96 that I mentioned, already.
There is a collection of CODs (I presume they're DADs) that will have
various Sw on them. (I remember Hobbes '97.)
Most volume is books /AND/ binders with /MOST/ interesting IBM RedBooks
within most of those binders. (Warp Server / e-Server? was one of
these.) Another portion of one had a small booklet about LVM - which I
/NEED/ to learn about - whether I want to or /not/!
I /AM/ going to keep /ALOT/ of it. A /FORMAL/ (exact) listing for those
curious as to the contents, I'll happily post later (this month?).
An ASIDE:
BTW, mentioning this after having read Esther's article mentioning
Elliot; reminds me that he had removed from Schindlers' old home a
quantity of OS/2 material that he WAS going to make a list of, for us.
(Of course, he had had one illness after another after doing that good
deed and never got to make such a list. I /did/ ask him once whether he
thought he had gotten his ?pneunomia? from Schindlers' "musty old" OS/2
'stuff' and he said he was pretty certain that was /NOT/ the case. As
you might recall, he actually had had a bad 'ticker' which, I think,
makes one prone to such lung diseases. He probably knew this already,
but did not mention it in his letter to me.)
Anyway,
IF any of you are in the actual Phoenix area,
THEN you might want to see if those items /are/ still at his mother's.
(You /might/ want to help out his Mother and offer to remove them,
too???) (She might /not/ wish that. Did Esther in her article mention
visting his Mom? Check with her? (E.))
Sincerely,
Thomas CLayton
