I'm going to get rid of my desktp computer and use only my laptop. I
want to transfer all the data from the desktop (about 30 GB) to several
USB flash drives. Both the X Digital Hyper Drive and the Sony Micro
Vault have 8 GB units that look like they will fit the bill. I know I
could use an actual USB 100 GB hard drive but I don't want to have
everything on one drive and I believe they require 2 USB ports (only
have 1). Also, one of the flash drives will be used on my company WinXP
Dell laptop.
Any one have any comments?
>From traffic here and my experience, I'd guess the relative risk of
losing ALL data on a flash drive to be a thousand times that of losing
it all on a a spinning disk. Even if both devices were dsiconnected from
your computer.
External USB spinning drives in large sizes are readily available for
<$100.
