Used to be quite common running OS/2 without WPS back in the days of 4
MB machines.
Using shells such as filebar
(http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/util/wps/fileb205.zip) or mdesk
(http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/util/wps/mdesk13.zip) and others you
got all the goodness of multitasking usable in very little memory.
