There are quite a few system boards listed there.  Unless you need a
motherboard for other reasons, a PCI SATA controller may be cheaper.  The
controllers from Promise aren't cheap, but when you get a motherboard
there's always the cost of a processor, memory, and video card that might
not be compatible with the new board, and new boards often come with very
few slots.  OTOH, every new motherboard that I've seen for quite some time
has come with SATA connections.
