[Discussion] Selecting a hard drive

I have an Asus A7V333 mother board in a full tower with 400w+ power
supply.  This computer has two 9GB IBM SCSI and four Western Digital IDE
or EIDE 30-40GB hard drives.  I would like to replaces them with two
~200GB hard drives.  (One for mirroring)   Besides the SCSI and IDE
there are many prefixes to hard drive now that make no sense to me.  I
don't think I can afford SCSI, so I need recommendation to the
alternatives. I have 20-30 WD hard drives from 250MB to 20GB.  This came
from replacing drive do to capacity at the place I used to work.  None
was replaced due to failure.  (Luck of the Hungarians :-))  I am open
for brand names if everyone hates WD.
