My TP R32 has 1.1 ports and USB2 devices work in it.  My understanding 
is that all USB2 devices are backward compatible with USB1.1.  There 
might be a handful of specialised exceptions out there, but USB memory 
sticks are neither specialised nor exceptions.  The trouble is elsewhere 
I believe.  I suspect either the drivers or the switch settings on the 
drivers (or bothe) to be your problem.
