That's not the assumption I would make.  More likely, some other folder
decided to become a Startup folder.  If so, Henk Kelder's checkini will
allow you to fix this up.

These are what open on startup, in order. However poorly I express
myself, I do not have the imagination to have put them a common folder.
In fact, I don't remember willfully opening more than a couple of these,
ever

Would you suggest specific action with checkini.exe or another tool? I
executed "checkini /c /y:2" and rebooted. Same startup behavior.
